Communication Dept. open house
The Communication Department is holding an open house from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, in 215 Grubbs. Refreshments will be provided.
Meals for Habitat
If a student purchases a meal or snack at any restaurant in Crawford County on Thursday, Sept. 17, a portion of the sale will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.
Internship opportunity
Theda Owens, internship manager/legislative assistant for U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts, will be on campus from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, in 326 Russ Hall to discuss summer 2010 student internship opportunities.
Sculpture exhibit
Sculptor Matthew Burke's large-scale objects will be on display in the University Gallery in Porter Hall on Wednesday, Sept. 16, through Tuesday, Oct. 13. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
PSU blood drive
Residence Hall Assembly and the Kansas Association of Nursing Students are sponsoring a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, in the Dellinger Underground. Donors receive a free T-shirt. To make an appointment, call University Housing at 235-4245.
Career Services holds event
The Career Services event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, in the Cleveland Plaza. This event is to help students prepare for internships and for organizations to attend that are looking to hire PSU students.
Rumble in the Jungle
The visit event for high school seniors and their parents and guests will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, in Grubbs Hall. Cost is $10 for high school seniors and $5 per parent/guests. open house
The College of Technology will give high school and community college students lab demonstrations and tours beginning at 1:20 p.m. and ending at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, in the Kansas Technology Center. Poetry reading
The PSU English Department is holding a poetry reading with Kansas poet laureate Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, in 109 Grubbs Hall. The reading is sponsored by the Distinguished Visiting Writers Series and Student Fee Council.
Talking about race
Journalist and filmmaker David A. Wilson will speak at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, in the Crimson and Gold Ballroom. Admission is free and is sponsored by PALS and the PSU Leadership Institute. For more information, call the Campus Activities Center at 235-4795 or campusactivities@pittstate.edu.

Early enrollment
for spring semester
Early enrollment for the 2010 spring semester will be held Monday, Nov. 9, through Friday, Nov. 13. Spring class schedules will be available on the PSU Web site on Oct. 12.
Student etiquette dinner
The dinner will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, in the lower level of the Wilkinson Alumni Center. The event offers students the opportunity to learn about proper etiquette during dinner interactions with potential employers. The dinner is hosted by the Office of Alumni and Constituent Relations and Career Services. For more information, visit pittstate.edu/alumni.
Parking lot open
The parking lot adjacent to Grubbs Hall was recently completed and is now open to members of the campus community with blue or brown permits. These spaces are located within a one-block walk of buildings on the Oval.
Flu shots
Flu shots for students, faculty and staff are now available at the Student Health Center for $15. Walk in or call 235-4452 to make an appointment.
Music series
Krista River, mezzo-soprano, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, in the McCray Recital Hall. For more information, call 235-4466.
