Receptions for retiring directors and administrators have been the order of the week at Pittsburg State University.
A retirement reception for Lee Christensen is scheduled for 2 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 14, in the Wilkinson Alumni Center, first floor, University Room.
Christensen has served the university for 39 years, and announced his retirement last spring as associate vice president for academic programs. With Christensen's retirement, a new dean-level position is being created to oversee financial aid, Registrar's Office, admissions, international programs, honors college, freshman experience and undeclared majors.
On Tuesday, June 12, a reception was held for Teresa Massa, who announced her retirement as director of the Office of Equal Opportunity. Massa has been with the university for 29 years. In that time, Massa has worked to ensure that the university complied with federal equal opportunity guidelines and to make sure the university was providing equal access to all students, including women, minorities and persons with handicaps.
A replacement for Massa has not been announced yet.
Also, on Tuesday, June 12, a reception was held for Randy Rosenbaum, who retired as director of Printing and Postal Services. He has been with the university for 24 years.
