Students will be welcomed back to PSU this August with many activities and lots of entertainment during OFF2PSU week.
Edie McCracken, campus activities program director, wants to emphasize that, as in past years, welcome back activities are not only for freshmen, but are open to all PSU students.
"I'm really excited about this year's schedule," said McCracken. "There's something for everyone."
McCracken says that OFF2PSU will last for two weeks, beginning Sunday, Aug. 19, with Gorilla Warm-Ups, a traditional day of activities especially for freshmen.
Melinda Roelfs, director of admissions, explains the basic outline of Gorilla Warm-Ups to include: hearing from nationally known speaker Nancy Hunter-Denney; completing the two traditions of ringing the Centennial Bell Tower; participating in the all-freshman class photo; meeting with freshman experience instructors and classes; and wrapping the day up with a pool party at Lincoln Park Aquatic Center.
Students will also have opportunities to win prizes during OFF2PSU.
One change that has been made from previous years is the scheduling of two shows by hypnotist Michael C. Anthony. Because of the popularity of his previous shows, McCracken says, he is scheduled for an additional performance this year.
