Lines forming at Pittsburg State University's Commerce Bank branch might seem daunting at the start of a semester. But many students realize that there are alternative ways to get financial aid refunds.
"Right now, there is not a time at the PSU branch that is not busy," said Abby Roth, senior in business management and a teller at Commerce Bank's campus branch.
However, Roth says that there are some times of the day that are better than others when visiting the bank. The campus branch's peak hours are usually between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. There are also three other Commerce Bank branches in Pittsburg. The main branch is located at 100 South Broadway and the other two branches are located at 2720 North Broadway (next to Wal-Mart) and inside Ron's IGA supermarket.
There are also two branches in Columbus, three branches in Joplin and one branch in Webb City. Students can go to any of these branches to receive their funds.
Another way to speed up the process of receiving financial aid refunds is for students to already have their driver's license or Gorilla card in-hand, along with their account numbers or Social Security numbers.
The employees of Commerce Bank have also made some advances this semester to ensure prompt service.
Although the situation continues to be hectic, Roth said that with each semester comes improvement.
"Now that the seniors, juniors and sophomores have been through this process before, we did not have as many problems or questions with the refunds disbursing to the accounts."
