Cory Abercrombie, Pitt State senior, tries to get the ball during the Saturday game at John Lance Arena. PSU won the game 82-69.

It took 141 shots to decide PSU's fate in its 3-overtime 85-78 loss to Fort Hays State on Wednesday.

PSU was outscored 13-5 in the third and final overtime, to clinch the victory for the Tigers.

Five Gorilla players spent over 40 minutes on the floor on the night, including a 51-minute act by senior Cory Abercrombie.
Six points by Fort Hays guard Tyrone Evans propelled the Tigers toward their 13th win.

Junior guard Carlos Taylor led the squad with a game-high 20 points.

After half-time, Pitt State fell flat from three, shooting only 26 percent, including 3-of-10 in extra frames.

Pitt vs. Washburn

The Gorilla men's basketball players couldn't find their white home jerseys for their 82-69 win over Washburn on Saturday.
They couldn't find their jerseys because their head coach Gene Iba ... well ... hid them.

After gaining clearance from the MIAA office, Iba busted out the red away jerseys at home.

Considering the Gorillas were 4-3 in John Lance Arena, including three-straight losses on their home floor, it was worth the bet that the red away jerseys, the same ones the Gorillas are 7-1 in, would give his players an uncommon boost.
The first two minutes of the first half were not kind to the Gorillas, as they found themselves down 8-0.

Two straight 3-pointers from senior forward Michael Hutchingson, and strong 8-point performances from seniors Cory Abercrombie and Keith Windom locked in a 43-32 lead.
With 3:38 left in the second half, Washburn guard Andrew Meile sank a 3-ball to move the Ichabods within nine, before Windom put them away by shooting eight of eight from the charity stripe.

Despite shooting only 39 percent from the floor, Pittsburg State was able to draw fouls and shoot an astounding 29 of 33 from the free throw line.

Senior guard Keith Windom led the Gorillas with 18 points, on top of three others scoring in double figures.

Cory Abercrombie moved within 228 points of becoming only the 19th player to score 1,000 points, with an 11-point, eight-rebound performance against Washburn, and a 18-point, 15-rebound against Fort Hayes.Pitt State (13-5, 4-5 MIAA) moves on to face Central Missouri at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, in Warrensburg, Mo.
