Senior guard/forward Michael Hutchingson goes in for a lay-up at the Thursday, Feb. 7, game against Fort Hays State at Carnie Smith Stadium. Pitt State won the game 67-53. The Gorillas won again 67-54 in their Wednesday, Feb. 13, game against Missouri Western.

Senior guard Keith Windom played one of his most complete games of the season in Pitt State's last meeting against Missouri Western on Wednesday night, but he probably can refer to Pitt State's 67-54 victory over Missouri Western as another shining moment.

Windom opened the game with a quick lay-up, mounting a 6-3 run to begin the game.

A back-to-back pair of 3-point baskets by Windom and Chris Roe preserved the Gorillas' 34-29 lead going into half-time.
MIAA Player of the Week Cory Abercrombie scored 10 points in the first half, but the Griffons found an answer in the second stanza, holding Abercrombie to only four points in the half.

With Abercrombie on defensive lock-down, senior forward Nathan Lang picked up the slack with seven points, including a pivotal dunk to give the Gorillas a 36-30 advantage with 18:25 left in the game.
A Michael Hutchingson jumper swelled the Gorillas' lead to 12 points, and another Windom 3-pointer sealed the victory for PSU.

Windom finished the game with 12 points, five rebounds and a game-high six assists. Joining Windom in double figures were Nathan Lang with 11, Hutchingson with 12, and Abercrombie, who finished the night with 14 points.

Lang led the Gorillas in rebounding by grabbing nine of them and blocking two shots.

Despite shooting 1-of-7 from beyond the arc in the second half, Pitt State held Missouri Western to 35 percent shooting in the final quarter, and out-rebounded the Griffons 39-to-25.

In the win, Abercrombie moved within 150 points of becoming Pitt State's 19th member of the 1,000th point club.
The Gorillas (15-7, 6-7 MIAA) solidified their fifth-place position in MIAA conference play, and will travel to face the third-place Northwest Missouri State Bearcats at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Maryville, Mo.
