A fund-raiser to earn money to pay Brandon Jones' unpaid hospital bills and to cover any final expenses will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Girard American Legion.
Jones, who was a senior in construction management at PSU, died on Feb. 7 from Ewing's sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that is most commonly found in bone or soft tissue in children and young adults. He had been battling the disease since 2005, and was undergoing expensive treatment.
The fund-raiser was originally coordinated before Jones passed away, and will continue on as planned.
"As we mourn the loss of our beloved friend, I encourage everyone to come to the fundraiser and help us celebrate his life," said Trina Sirratt, a friend of Jones. "Whether you knew Brandon or not, know that when you leave, it will feel as though you had known him all along."
