Skeptics should re-examine global warming

Finally Turley writes, "the EPA wants fleet-wide mileage to reach 35 miles per gallon by 2020. The amount of money required for the research and development that goes into such a task..."
Anyone? The money required is zero. Honda, Volkswagen, Toyota have already built better, while Nissan and Saturn are close. They didn't even have to use hybrid engines. Turley knows this, as he cites the Geo Metro in his second-to-last paragraph.
It's sweet that people want to defend the U.S. auto industry and their cheap cars against the slings and arrows of higher efficiency and domestic energy independence. But Turley doesn't even clearly state his point. Lutz himself says we need more efficient cars, and Turley admits the U.S. auto industry can make and has made them. Shall we get on with making cheap efficient cars? However familiar you may be with climate science, we can all agree on that.
Please contact me if you have ideas on how to solve these problems we face. My e-mail address is onegaishimasu@gmail.com and I find the subjects of climate change and environmental remediation fascinating.
