Back in high school, I was always jealous of those big groups of guys and girls who went away for spring break to Mexico or Florida, whichever was more popular that year. On 'Age of ignorance,' (3/6/08) We must teach children acceptance, inclusion and equity of others in schools because it is quite obvious that they do not learn these attributes at home. The anti-gay violent murder of Lawrence King and suicide of Ryan Halligan should be a clarion call that our elementary and secondary schools be mandated to be open and safe to GLBTQ students, where anti-gay harassment and violence is not tolerated.…
