"We didn't make an error in those four games," said head coach Steve Bever. "In most phases of the games, we were pretty happy."
In game one on Friday, junior pitcher Tim Brown shut out three batters, and four relief pitchers assisted in the second win of that day. Freshman infielder Brian Dean hit his first home run of the season in game three on Saturday, while in game four, a four-run third inning combined with a two-run fourth led the Gorillas to their next victory.
Pitt State now sits with a relatively comfortable 11-9 overall and 6-2 MIAA records.
"We kind of had a rough start," Bever said. "I guess you could possibly blame it on the weather and not being able to get outside early on, but we are starting to really play better."
Pittsburg will host Central Missouri State in a three-game series this weekend, beginning on March 28 and continuing until March 30. The Mules are 17-5 overall, and 7-1 in conference. They are ranked 21st in the NCAA-II Poll.
"It's coming at a good time, because we are playing really good," said Bever. "We are going to have to play that same kind of defense as last weekend."
The Gorillas begin their series against Central Missouri at 6 p.m. Friday, March 28, at Al Ortolani Field.
