Pittsburg State University athletic director/head football coach Chuck Broyles released tentative start times for the 2008 football season on Friday, March 28.

The Gorillas, currently in the second week of their four-week spring drills, will open the season on Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. at Edmond, Okla., against the University of Central Oklahoma. Pitt State will host five games at Brandenburg Field/Carnie Smith Stadium beginning with the MIAA opener against Missouri Southern State University at 6 p.m. on Sept. 13.

The Gorillas home schedule includes a 2 p.m. Hall of Fame Game contest against the University of Central Missouri on Sept. 27 and a 2 p.m. Homecoming contest against the University of Nebraska-Omaha on Oct. 18.
Other notable contests on the 2008 schedule include a Sept. 6 road game against Chadron State College at 1 p.m. and The Fall Classic at Arrowhead VII match-up against Northwest Missouri State University at Kansas City, Mo., at 5 p.m. on Oct. 4.

Pitt State will face three teams ranked in the top 10 and four top 25 squads in the season-ending 2007 AFCA/Division II Top 25 Poll last December: 2nd-ranked Northwest Missouri, 5th-ranked Chadron State,
7th-ranked Nebraska-Omaha and 24th-ranked Washburn. Missouri Western State University also was listed among the "others receiving votes" list.
