College tradition:
Students say beer pong a fun but sometimes dangerous sport

Some rules, apparently, are more important than others.
"The rules I try to make sure happens is that if both people make it in one cup, that's balls back and three drinks, and if someone bounces the ball in, that's two drinks, no matter what," said Josh Burt, sophomore in nursing.
But every game has its horror stories.
"I was playing the game, and the team made the ball into my cup, so I went to take a drink and noticed a long, curly hair floating around in my cup and thought, somebody didn't wash off their balls," said Aaron Plumbley, junior in electric technology.
When playing the game, you don't always have to play with alcohol to have a good time, players agree.
"When I play beer pong, I usually fill the cups up with water, so I can control when and if I drink, because I am just playing to have fun and not to get hammered," said Scott Hopson, junior in business finance.
But players should be aware of the game's dangerous side effects, warns J.T. Knoll, prevention and wellness counselor.
"You are consuming an increasing amount of alcohol in a short period of time, which can put you at risk with legal issues, DUI, school problems, and feeling ill the next day," Knoll said.
"If you are going to drink heavily, you need to know the possible consequences, and take care of yourself and your friends, by having a designated driver," he said.
