Regent to give
Tilford Lecture
Janie Perkins, a member of the Kansas Board of Regents, will deliver the next Tilford Lecture at 2 p.m. Friday, April 25, in the Balkans Room of the Overman Student Center. Perkins will talk about her experiences growing up as a second-language learner, her efforts to promote diversity and understanding of other cultures and her personal experiences with second-language learners in public schools. Admission is free.
2008 spring/summer
commencement set
Commencement for 2008 spring and summer graduates in the colleges of Arts and Sciences and Business is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, in the Weede gymnasium. Family and friends of graduating students are invited to attend the ceremonies. From 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., a tent will be set up in the northwest corner outside the Weede for the president's reception. Then from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., graduates will be able to obtain name cards in the Weede. At 9:45 a.m., the processional will be organized. The processional will begin at 9:55 a.m.
Commencement for the Colleges of Education and Technology will be 7:30-9:30 p.m. Friday, May 16.

Olympic wishes
The Chinese Culture Club will be sending their wishes to the Olympics from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, in the Oval. If it rains, the event will be held in the Governors Room of the Overman Student Center. President Tom Bryant will sign his name at 1 p.m. The signature will be sent to Beijing National Stadium or shown at the opening ceremony through the Chinese Embassy in Chicago. People who want to help set up can e-mail Nini Wu at agntjennybaby@gmail.com. There will also be a live martial-arts demonstration and a showing of Rush Hour 3 from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Oval. Special guest will be Jin Otter.

karaoke night
Gorillas in Your Midst will hold its grand finale Karaoke Night in the U-Club from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday, April 24.There will be free refreshments and a $25 Wal-Mart gift card drawing. For information, call 235-4062.
