"Lunch dates are good because they are simple and you don't have to spend much time together, which helps to avoid awkwardness," McCoy said.
For a lunch date, Akins suggests the Mall Deli, located in Meadowbrook Mall, which provides a more casual environment. The Mall Deli is also reasonably priced for those college students with a limited budget.
Another idea for casual entertainment on a first date is miniature golf at Four Oaks golf course, located in Lincoln Park.
"Take her to the golf course and buy her a round of mini-golf," Gabe Welling, junior in business, said. "Make sure to supply her with a nice cold slushy for the 18 holes. I would recommend letting her win, too. That way, in the future you can always have an excuse to get another date: so you can beat her."
When the night begins winding down, the dinner has settled and the movie is over, a walk under the stars around Lakeside Park can be a good ending to a first date.
"Basically a good first date, in a girl's opinion, includes an interesting and interested guy, good food, a fun atmosphere and great conversation," Akins said. "Keep her guessing what you're going to do by taking her somewhere unexpected and you'll have a perfect first date."
